The fine print, in plain English. This page explains what the claims on askcogi.com, askcogi.ai and askcogi.net mean, what they do not mean, and whose trademarks are whose. It covers our website, our product examples and Cogi.
1. Trademarks and no affiliation
All trademarks belong to their owners. AskCogi is an independent company. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by them.
Our site shows the names or logos of these tools: Toast, Intuit QuickBooks, MarketMan, OpenTable, Square, 7shifts, Gusto, DoorDash, Uber Eats, Grubhub, Resy, Yelp and US Foods. They are trademarks of their respective owners. The logos show tools that restaurants use every day. They do not mean any partnership, sponsorship or endorsement, and they do not mean that Cogi connects to every one of them. The page says: "Ask us which ones your group can connect." For accounting, Cogi works with QuickBooks. Which connections are available to you depends on your setup, so ask us first.
Cogi uses AI models from third-party providers, including models from Anthropic. Claude and Anthropic are trademarks of Anthropic, PBC. Cogi is not produced, sponsored or endorsed by Anthropic.
If you own a trademark shown on our site and have a concern about how it is used, email hello@askcogi.ai. We review every request promptly and will correct or remove content where appropriate.
2. Sample data
Every dashboard, briefing, chat answer, chart and dollar figure in our product examples is sample data. Examples such as "Downtown" and "Uptown", "Vendor A", the $6,200 food cost gap, the $3,400 of duplicate bills, the $2,140 in delivery refunds and the labor and plate cost charts are made up to show how Cogi works. The site marks them "Sample data".
They are not a real restaurant's results. They are not typical results, and they are not a promise of savings or profit. Your numbers will be different.
3. Venue results and material connection
The results section on our site shows findings from venues of the Le Malt group: Meximodo (Metuchen and Jersey City, New Jersey) and SHO Asian Table (Red Bank, New Jersey). Each figure comes from read-only checks of the venue's own Toast sales and labor, QuickBooks books and supplier invoices for the dates printed on the card.
- Cost cut (labor). The Meximodo Metuchen labor card compares hourly labor as a share of net sales in the 8 weeks before a weekly staffing plan started with the weeks since it started. The weekly figure applies the drop in that share to the sales of the weeks with the plan. Hourly labor comes from Toast time entries; salaried pay is not included. The yearly figure multiplies that weekly saving by 52; it is an estimate of the current rate for one location, not money already saved. Sales, seasons and staffing change for many reasons, so the figure shows what happened while the plan was in place, not a guaranteed result of the plan.
- Caught amounts. "Price increases" compare a vendor's latest price for an item with the median that vendor charged in the prior 90 days, on the supplier invoices of both Meximodo locations. The monthly cost applies each increase to the quantity bought in those 90 days, averaged per month; the yearly figure multiplies it by 12. The card shows the delivery dates the check covered, which end at the last invoice we received. "Manager comps" are discounts named as manager comps in Toast.
- What they are not. Caught amounts are items to review, not confirmed losses or savings. Some flagged items have ordinary explanations, such as a seasonal price, a different pack size or a comp given for a good reason. They are not typical results, and they are not a promise that Cogi will find the same amounts in your books.
Material connection. These venues belong to Le Malt Hospitality and to its founder, who is AskCogi's co-founder and CEO. They are not independent customers, they did not pay for Cogi, and they do not speak for other restaurants. Do not read the results section as an independent endorsement.
We update these figures when we re-run the checks, and each card shows the dates it covers.
4. Industry statistics
The figure of 2.8 cents is the median pre-tax income of full-service restaurants in 2024, per the National Restaurant Association, State of the Industry 2026. We quote it only to show how thin restaurant margins are. The National Restaurant Association is not affiliated with AskCogi and does not endorse it.
Industry figures describe a median across many restaurants. They are not a prediction for any restaurant, including yours, and not a measure of what Cogi can do. Statements on our site about the number of tools a typical group juggles are general descriptions, not measurements.
5. Savings and the 5x ROI guarantee
We do not promise any specific savings, profit, labor cost, food cost or other result. Outcomes depend on many factors outside our control, including your data, your connections, your market, your vendors and the choices you make.
The one exception is the 5x ROI pilot guarantee, as defined in the Terms of Service. It is a refund of pilot fees under the conditions listed there: what counts, what you need to do, how to claim and its limits. Phrases on the site such as "5x ROI, guaranteed" and "the whole pilot is free" are short for that refund. Where they differ from the Terms, the Terms control. Money Cogi finds in your books, including in a money leak report, is an estimate until you confirm it in your account.
6. AI output
Cogi's answers come from your data and from AI models, and they can be wrong, incomplete or out of date. Each answer shows the numbers behind it and a confidence level: high, medium or low. A "high" level means Cogi is more sure, not that it is certain. A model can still misread an invoice, miss a charge or give a wrong reason.
Review Cogi's output before you act on it, especially before you dispute a bill, change a schedule, switch a vendor or make any financial decision. If something looks wrong, use "Flag this answer" or email us. You are responsible for how you use the output.
7. Not accounting, tax, legal, financial or employment advice
Cogi and our site give business information. Nothing we publish and nothing Cogi says is accounting, tax, legal, financial, investment or employment advice, and using Cogi does not create a professional-client relationship. Talk to your accountant, lawyer or advisor before you act, especially on payroll, overtime, tax, tips or anything that affects your employees.
8. Read-only access and approvals
On our site, "Nothing moves without your tap" and "Cogi reads and suggests. You decide." mean this:
- Cogi connects to your books, POS and other systems with read-only access. It reads data. It does not change records in those systems.
- Cogi does not pay bills, place orders or send disputes on its own. Where Cogi can take an action, it waits for you to approve that action first.
Some limits:
- Approving an action is your decision. Once you approve, the action may go to a vendor, a delivery app or another third party that we do not control, and it may not be possible to undo it.
- Anyone on your team with the right role in your account can approve. You decide who has which role.
- Read-only access depends on the permissions the other service gives us. We cannot control how other services label or enforce their permissions.
- Read-only access does not mean Cogi sees nothing sensitive. It reads the data you connect, which can include sales, vendor bills, bank and card activity and employee hours and pay. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle it.
9. Third-party services and integrations
Cogi depends on services from other companies, such as your POS, QuickBooks, bank and card feeds, delivery apps, payroll and AI providers. They change their features, data formats, prices and rules often, and they can have outages. A connection may stop working, be limited or become unavailable, and a connection is not guaranteed to be available now or later. When a connection fails, Cogi's answers may be incomplete, and Cogi will tell you what it is missing.
We do not control third-party sites and services and are not responsible for their content, availability, security, pricing or policies. Their own terms and privacy policies apply when you use them.
10. Roadmap and future features
Plans for new features, such as reservations, trends and more languages, and other items described as coming later, are our current plans. They are not promises or commitments, have no delivery date, and may change or be removed. Some features described on our site may not yet be available to every customer. Ask us what is available for your group today. Decide based on what Cogi does now, not on what we hope it will do.
11. How this page fits with the Terms
This page adds to our Terms of Service, Privacy Policy and Cookie Notice. If an order form or a signed agreement conflicts with this page, the signed agreement controls. If this page conflicts with the Terms about the guarantee, the Terms control.
12. Changes and contact
We may update these disclaimers from time to time. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page. Questions or concerns, including trademark requests, go to hello@askcogi.ai.
